Don’t Let the Recession Get You Down … There is Hope

On December 1st, 2008, the front page of the Chicago Tribune reads: “It’s official. The U.S. economy has been in a recession for the past year. The start of the downturn was announced by the National Bureau of Economic Research.”
As a small business owner, this was definitely not good news. Although we all knew this long before this announcement was made, it just hits a little harder and lower for all the business owners out there. Instead of throwing in the towel and signing our businesses away for pennies on the dollar, there is hope. Whether you are young to the business world or have been around for several decades, we know we can get through this. There have been recessions and depressions before us, and we, as a hard working nation, have survived. And we can survive again.
What is the answer? The Internet. Ah, yes, it sounds so simple. In ways it is, in others it is not. That is why I am here, to share my 10+ years of web experience to all of you who can and will survive through this hard economic downturn. I will help you understand both the simple, and not-so-simple ways the Internet can help your small business survive.
Now that you hopefully understand that this is not another “doom and gloom” speech about how we are all going to fail, it is important to understand the Internet is not going anywhere. The crashes we saw a mere ten years ago happened due to the sheer infancy of the web. The Internet is now such an integral part of our lives that is an absolute necessity. It is a great way to connect, and stay connected, to millions of individuals. With putting your resources and money in the right direction, you will not only be able to survive through the recession, but you just might sail right through it.
